About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Data Engineer to join a dynamic and forward-thinking global technology company based in London. This is a fully remote position offering flexibility, with the option to work from multiple UK office locations to facilitate collaboration and team engagement. As a key member of the engineering team, you will work closely with the Head of Data to design, develop, and maintain large-scale Azure Data platforms. Your expertise will be instrumental in building robust data models and working on Delta Lake architectures that underpin the company's AI and analytics initiatives. The role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge data solutions, leveraging your experience in Databricks and cloud data engineering to drive innovation and data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in data engineering within Azure cloud environments, with proven experience in Databricks and Delta Lake technologies. You should have a deep understanding of Medallion Architecture and be proficient in PySpark, Python, and SQL. Knowledge of Kimball data modeling techniques such as star schema and snowflake schema is essential. Candidates should demonstrate flexibility and a problem-solving mindset, with a focus on delivering high-quality, scalable solutions. Relevant certifications in Azure Data Engineering or Databricks are highly desirable, along with excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Azure Data Engineer, your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing large-scale data pipelines and architectures on Azure
  • Ensuring data integrity and security
  • Developing and optimizing data models, focusing on performance and scalability
  • Utilizing Delta Lake and Unity Catalog to manage data assets effectively
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions
  • Supporting data analytics and AI initiatives
  • Maintaining best practices in data engineering
  • Conducting code reviews and ensuring compliance with data governance standards
  • Staying updated with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies to continually enhance the company's data platforms and capabilities
