About Amber Labs
Amber Labs is a fast-growing UK technology consultancy delivering digital transformation across enterprise, government and regulated sectors. We specialise in cloud, data, software engineering, user-centred design and AI, helping organisations deliver better services through modern technology and agile ways of working.
We are supporting the establishment of a new Cloud, DevOps and AI Centre of Excellence within a major UK organisation and are looking for an experienced Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to join the team.
This is an opportunity to help shape modern engineering practices, build secure cloud platforms and support the delivery of emerging AI-enabled capabilities at scale.
The Role
As a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer, you will design, build and optimise secure, scalable Azure infrastructure and deployment platforms.
You will work closely with software engineers, architects, security specialists, data engineers and AI practitioners to establish modern DevOps and platform engineering practices. You will also have exposure to AI and machine learning projects, supporting the infrastructure, automation and deployment capabilities required to take AI solutions from development through to production.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, mentoring and contributing to the standards and reusable capabilities of the new Centre of Excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and maintain secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, primarily Terraform and/or Bicep.
- Build and improve CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions or similar tooling.
- Deploy and manage containerised applications using Docker and Kubernetes/AKS.
- Automate infrastructure provisioning, application deployments, testing and operational processes.
- Implement monitoring, logging, alerting and reliability practices across cloud environments.
- Apply DevSecOps principles, including secure identity, secrets management and security controls throughout the delivery lifecycle.
- Support AI, machine learning and AI-enabled applications, helping build the cloud infrastructure and deployment processes required to operate these workloads.
- Contribute to the development of reusable engineering patterns, standards and tooling across the Centre of Excellence.
- Work with architects, developers, security, data and AI teams to solve complex technical challenges.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring to other engineers and contribute to architectural and engineering decisions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
