Role: Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer

Location: Manchester
Salary: £60,000 - £95,000
Work pattern: Hybrid

We are seeking a Senior Azure Infrastructure Engineer to join a growing technology team, taking ownership of a modern Azure environment while helping to shape its future. This is a hands-on role where you'll be responsible for maintaining, improving, and securing critical cloud infrastructure, working closely with senior leadership to deliver a resilient and scalable platform.

Offering a salary of £60,000–£95,000, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Azure professional who enjoys taking ownership, driving technical improvements, and working across a broad range of cloud technologies in a collaborative environment.

What is Required?

You will have a solid understanding of Azure IaaS, including Virtual Machines, VNets, NSGs, routing, backup, and monitoring, alongside practical experience with Azure networking, VPNs, and Private Endpoints.

The ideal candidate will have experience implementing cloud security best practices, including hardening, patching, logging, and Microsoft Defender, as well as the ability to document existing environments and technical processes. You should be comfortable working independently, taking ownership of technical decisions, and driving infrastructure improvements.

Experience with Azure App Services, Azure SQL, Microsoft 365, Intune, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or Bicep), and Microsoft Sentinel would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of the Azure cloud platform and day-to-day infrastructure management
  • Manage and maintain Azure IaaS, including Virtual Machines, networking, backup, disaster recovery, and monitoring
  • Enhance platform security through hardening, patch management, Microsoft Defender recommendations, and proactive monitoring
  • Produce and maintain technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, and disaster recovery procedures
  • Support Microsoft 365 and associated cloud services where required
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to communicate priorities, technical recommendations, and project progress
  • Proactively identify opportunities to improve performance, resilience, and security across the Azure estate
  • Lead infrastructure improvements and make informed technical decisions to support long-term business objectives
