Senior Azure Platform Engineer | £80,000 - £100,000 | London (4 Days Onsite) | Global Organisation

Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure Platform Engineer to join a growing technology function within a large global organisation. This role will focus on the design, implementation, optimisation, and operational support of a modern Azure-first platform, underpinning critical business applications, data services, and cloud infrastructure.

You will be responsible for developing scalable, secure, and resilient Azure environments while driving automation, governance, platform reliability, and cloud best practices. The role offers significant exposure to Azure PaaS services, SQL platforms, Infrastructure as Code, and cloud transformation initiatives.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and manage enterprise-scale Azure infrastructure and platform services
  • Own the operational management and optimisation of Azure subscriptions, resource groups, networking, governance, and security controls
  • Support and administer Azure SQL Database, Managed Instances, and Microsoft SQL Server environments
  • Drive Infrastructure as Code adoption using Terraform, Bicep, and Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Build and maintain highly available, scalable, and resilient cloud solutions
  • Manage Azure networking including VNets, Private Endpoints, Firewalls, VPN Gateways, ExpressRoute, NSGs, and Load Balancers
  • Implement monitoring using Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Application Insights, and Sentinel
  • Support platform security through Defender, Entra ID, RBAC, Conditional Access, and Zero Trust principles
  • Lead cloud migration, modernisation, and platform improvement initiatives
  • Develop automation solutions using PowerShell and Azure CLI
  • Collaborate with development, data, security, and architecture teams
  • Provide technical leadership and project support

Essential

  • Extensive Azure engineering experience
  • Strong Azure IaaS and PaaS knowledge
  • Experience supporting Azure SQL Database, SQL Managed Instance, or SQL Server
  • Azure networking and hybrid cloud connectivity expertise
  • Terraform and/or Bicep experience
  • PowerShell automation skills
  • Azure Monitor and cloud observability experience
  • Cloud security, governance, RBAC and identity management knowledge

Desirable

  • Azure Landing Zone experience
  • AKS and container platform exposure
  • Azure Data Factory or Synapse Analytics knowledge
  • Azure DevOps CI/CD pipeline experience
  • Microsoft Sentinel and Defender Suite experience
  • Azure certifications including AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-500, DP-300 or SC-300
