Role Title: Senior Azure Platform Engineer
Location: Sheffield (3 days onsite)
Rate: Inside IR35 £500.00 - £525.00 pd
We're seeking a Senior Azure Platform Engineer to take ownership of a large-scale Azure platform supporting critical digital services. This is a hands-on role for an experienced Azure specialist who thrives on automation, cloud governance, and solving complex infrastructure challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain the Azure platform, ensuring security, stability, and compliance.
- Manage VM image build and release processes, including patching, testing, and deployment.
- Implement Azure Policy and governance controls, driving compliance across the estate.
- Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code using Bicep, Terraform, or ARM.
- Build enterprise-grade PowerShell automation and tooling.
- Configure and troubleshoot Azure networking, including VNets, NSGs, DNS, private endpoints, load balancing, and routing.
- Lead the resolution of complex platform incidents across infrastructure, networking, and applications.
- Mentor engineers, provide technical leadership, and contribute to engineering best practices.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Strong hands-on experience managing Azure platforms in production environments.
- Deep knowledge of Azure compute, storage, networking, identity, governance, ARM, RBAC, and managed identities.
- Expert PowerShell automation skills.
- Experience with VM image management using Azure Image Builder, Packer, or Shared Image Gallery.
- Proven Infrastructure as Code experience with Bicep, Terraform, or ARM.
- Strong Azure networking and troubleshooting expertise.
- Experience implementing governance and compliance controls at scale.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and mentoring skills.

- Azure Landing Zones and enterprise-scale architecture.
- Azure Policy authoring and remediation.
- Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Actions.
- Entra ID and advanced RBAC experience.
- Experience working within regulated environments.
- Azure certifications such as AZ-104, AZ-305, or AZ-400.
