Synechron is looking for a Senior BA/Modeler to support semantic model mapping within a financial services environment

The successful candidate will bring strong financial markets knowledge and experience, along with the ability to understand both business processes and technology landscapes. They will play a key role in identifying, analysing, and cataloguing a variety of enterprise data sources, helping shape a semantic model that accurately reflects business meaning and supports wider data and reporting initiatives.

ROLE:
- Lead and support semantic model mapping activity across complex financial services data environments
- Act as a hybrid Business Analyst / Modeler, with a primary focus on understanding business requirements and translating them into structured data artefacts
- Identify, analyse, and catalogue multiple data sources across the organisation to support the development of the semantic model
- Engage with business stakeholders to capture definitions, processes, terminology, and data usage
- Work with technology teams, architects, and data stakeholders to understand how data is sourced, transformed, and consumed across systems
- Translate business concepts into logical mappings, data relationships, and semantic structures
- Support the creation of consistent definitions, hierarchies, and relationships across datasets
- Ensure the semantic model reflects key financial markets concepts, products, workflows, and reporting needs
- Contribute to improved data consistency, traceability, and usability across the organisation
- Support wider data governance, metadata, and data lineage activities where relevant

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
