Senior Back-end Engineer
Bracknell (Hybrid 2-3 days in office) | Salary £70,000 - £75,000
You will own backend services that move money in production, end to end, within a small engineering team at a global payments business. Your code ships fast and your decisions matter.
What You Will Do
- Design and own backend services across onboarding, KYC/KYB, payment initiation, FX, and settlement
- Lead the build of partner integrations and settlement infrastructure in your domain
- Lead cross-functional delivery with product, compliance, and operations from problem framing through launch
- Lead design reviews, set technical direction, and mentor mid-level engineers
- Own production health including reliability, observability, on-call, and incident response
- Use agentic coding tools daily and lead modernisation from legacy services into the modern stack

What We Are Looking For
- Proven experience building production backend services end to end
- Strong proficiency in C# /.NET
- SQL and relational database fundamentals
- Production experience with AWS including SQS, DynamoDB, S3, ECS, and Lambda
- Strong system design experience including microservices and event-driven patterns
- Payments, FX, or regulated industry experience
- Daily use of agentic coding tools across the development lifecycle
