Role Overview
As a Senior Backend Engineer at IsoMetrix, you will play a leading role in the design and development of our next-generation, cloud-native SaaS platform. Working within the Product and Engineering team, you will build and maintain the backend services, APIs, and data architecture that power our multi-tenant, multi-lingual Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) solutions used by customers around the world.
This is a hands-on engineering role on a modern.NET stack, with the opportunity to shape architecture, uphold engineering standards, and mentor other members of the team. You will work on greenfield development using technologies such as.NET 10, Entity Framework Core, Azure, and applying best practices to create secure and maintainable software.
Key Responsibilities
Software Design & Development
- Design, build, and maintain backend services, APIs, and libraries for IsoMetrix's cloud-native SaaS platform.
- Write clean, well-structured, and testable code.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and help evolve a scalable, secure, multi-tenant platform.
- Develop reusable components and libraries to accelerate future development.
APIs & Integration
- Design and develop RESTful APIs and services consumed by web and mobile clients.
- Build event-driven and asynchronous components using message queues (e.g., Azure Service Bus).
- Ensure performance, scalability, and cross-platform compatibility across services.

Quality, Security & Reliability
- Ensure software quality through unit, integration, and automated testing.
- Participate in code reviews and uphold engineering best practices and coding standards.
- Build secure solutions with data protection and multi-tenancy in mind.
- Support continuous improvement, refactoring, and performance optimization of existing services.
Collaboration & Delivery
- Work within an Agile team alongside engineers, QA, product managers, and designers.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to translate functional and technical requirements into working software.
- Mentor and support other engineers, sharing knowledge and helping raise the bar across the team.
Experience
Required Experience
- Significant commercial experience as a backend software engineer, including time in a senior or lead capacity.
- Proven track record designing, building, and shipping production software on the.NET stack.
- Experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and web services.
- Experience working with relational databases and writing efficient SQL.
- Experience building and deploying cloud-based applications, ideally on Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working with AI both as a product offering and as a part of their workflow.
Technical Skills

- C# and ASP.NET Core (.NET 10 /.NET Core).
- Entity Framework Core.
- RESTful API design and development.
- SQL and relational database design (e.g., Azure SQL / SQL Server).
- Architectural patterns and principles such as Vertical Slice Architecture.
- Cloud services and tooling, ideally the Microsoft Azure platform (Azure Web Apps, Azure SQL).
- Source control with Git and GitHub.
- Containerisation and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
Soft Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Able to work well with ambiguity.
- Good time-management skills and the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.

Preferred Experience
- Experience with message queues (e.g., Azure Service Bus).
- Experience building multi-tenant, multi-lingual SaaS applications.
- Familiarity with front-end technologies such as JavaScript, TypeScript, and Vue.js.
- Exposure to the EHS, ESG, or Governance, Risk and Compliance (GRC) domain.
- .NET Aspire (cloud-native orchestration).
- Observability (OpenTelemetry).
- Identity & access (OAuth 2.0 / OpenID Connect).
- Resilience patterns (retries, timeouts, circuit breakers).
- Distributed caching (Redis).
