My client is a bootstrapped, profitable data business whose product is used every day by hundreds of VC and PE firms to find and evaluate private companies. The backend that carries all of it now needs a senior owner, as the team builds a new generation of AI and real-time features on top of a data foundation they've spent years getting right.

What you'll do

  • Own the architecture, performance and quality of the Python and FastAPI backend that every client-facing surface and internal tool runs on
  • Make Postgres and ClickHouse queries fast across billions of rows, so the product feels instant no matter how much data sits behind it
  • Build the backend for the next wave of product experiences: AI agents, network tracking and deep-search workflows
  • Set clean integration boundaries with the RemixJS frontend and the data pipelines, so the rest of the team can ship at speed on top of you
  • Decide what needs to exist for the system to stay fast and easy to extend, and then build it, without waiting for a spec

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

What we're looking for:

  • Strong Python, with FastAPI, Django or another async framework in production
  • Solid SQL and Postgres, and genuine interest in query performance and database internals
  • Production APIs you've designed and shipped that other teams depended on
  • A track record of building end-to-end and moving fast, rather than owning one narrow service
  • Experience at a startup or a company going through the scale-up transition
  • High agency. You spot what matters and pick it up yourself

Nice to have:

  • ClickHouse or another column store such as Redshift or Snowflake; experience in a data-intensive product, where the problems are a different shape
  • Comfort dropping into frontend work when it's the fastest route
  • TypeScript or RemixJS
  • Mentoring or leading engineers
  • Infra and DevOps
  • Familiarity with modern data stacks
