🚀 Senior Backend Engineer | Early-Stage AI FinTech | London | Up to £80k + Equity | C#/Python

OB have recently partnered with an early-stage AI fintech start-up that’s building from the ground up, and they’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join the early team and have genuine ownership over the product and platform.

This is a high-agency role for someone who wants to build, ship and own rather than inherit an established codebase.

🛠️ What you’ll be doing

  • Design, build and own core backend services, APIs and infrastructure
  • Build event-driven, multi-tenant systems from the ground up
  • Ship LLM and agentic workflows into production
  • Own data models, failure modes, auditability and system performance
  • Take features from spec → architecture → production
  • Build API-first products and infrastructure
  • Work directly with the founders and have a major influence on technical direction
  • Be comfortable jumping into React / Frontend when a feature needs it

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
