Introducing the Backend Teams at Trainline 👋
The Backend teams at Trainline build the core of Trailine’s world-class product. We create:
- The journey search functionality used by millions daily
- The eCommerce platform for a secure and seamless experience
- Connections to over 270+ travel operating companies across 45+ countries
Our specialisms range from journey search, fares calculation, bookings, to fulfilment, payments, refunds, carrier integrations, real-time timetable information, and journey disruptions.
Senior .NET Engineer 🚄
Reader’s Responsibilities
As a senior-level .NET Engineer, you will:
- Deliver new functionality or features using the most appropriate tools & techniques
- Ensure quality is at the heart of everything you and your team do
- Continuously improve the codebase
- Prioritise customer experience as our top focus
- Actively identify blockers, bottlenecks, time sinks, and waste—then remove them
- Contribute significantly to technical decision-making
- Act as coach and mentor to colleagues
- Take full ownership of the development lifecycle, including:
- Code to production deployment
- Monitoring and maintenance

- Monitoring & Logging: New Relic, ELK Stack
Your Profile 🔍
We’d love to hear from you if you have experience in:
- Mentoring junior engineers and pair-programming
- Hands-on experience with C# .NET, including the latest features
- Collaboration with front-end engineers and cross-functional teams
- Working with identity and authentication systems (e.g., IdentityServer, OpenID Connect, OAuth2)
- Designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, TeamCity)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS preferred; Azure or GCP also valuable)
- Working with Infrastructure as Code, especially Terraform
- Strong observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting tooling like New Relic/ELK)
- Curiosity about emerging technologies, like AI
- Supporting production systems and improving reliability
- Building and operating microservices architectures
- Experience with event-driven systems and async messaging patterns
- Understanding of distributed systems and scalability challenges

Work Environment
We operate a hybrid model, requiring a minimum of 60% on-site presence within any 12-week period. Additionally, we provide a 28-day Work from Abroad policy.
