About the Role
We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Payments Team and help us strengthen and scale a business-critical part of our platform.
You’ll work on complex backend challenges across payment flows, integrations, and system reliability. You’ll contribute to architecture, improve system stability and scalability, and help evolve the technical foundations of our Payments domain.
You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Product, Compliance, Operations, and other business teams to build reliable solutions and improve critical operational processes.
What You’ll Do
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python 3.11 using Django / DRF
- Contribute to the architecture and long-term technical development of our Payments systems
- Build and improve RESTful APIs and integrations
- Work with complex backend and legacy systems and identify root causes of technical problems
- Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and scalability
- Investigate and resolve production issues and recurring problems
- Work with MySQL and Redis
- Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decisions
- Identify and reduce technical debt
- Improve development processes, code quality, and engineering practices
- Collaborate with Product, Compliance, Operations, and Business teams
- Contribute to the evolution of our architecture and internal engineering tools

What We’re Looking For
- 4+ years of experience in backend development
- Strong Python skills and deep knowledge of Django or similar frameworks
- Solid understanding of relational databases, caching, and high-performance backend systems
- Experience with REST APIs, service design, and distributed systems
- Experience working with complex or legacy systems
- Ability to independently investigate complex technical problems and identify root causes
- Experience working with production systems and improving their stability
- Strong ownership and ability to make sound technical decisions
- Familiarity with Git, CI/CD practices, and modern engineering workflows
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills
- English B2+ and fluent Russian
Nice to Have
- Experience working in fintech, payments, or another regulated industry
- Familiarity with AWS and Docker
- Experience with RabbitMQ, Kafka, or other message brokers
- Experience with payment providers or financial integrations
- Contributions to open source or personal side projects
