About InvestEngine

InvestEngine is a fast-growing fintech based in London, on a mission to make ETF investing simple and accessible. Over 150,000 clients have trusted us with more than £2.8 billion in assets — and we’re just getting started.

About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to join our Pensions Team and help us build, scale, and improve the backend systems powering InvestEngine’s pension products.

You’ll work on complex backend challenges, design reliable and scalable services, contribute to architectural decisions, and help improve the stability and quality of our systems.

This is a hands-on engineering role with no direct people management responsibilities. You’ll work closely with Product, Compliance, and Business teams to turn business requirements into robust technical solutions and take ownership of key backend initiatives.

What You’ll Do

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend services in Python 3.11 using Django / DRF
  • Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable backend solutions
  • Contribute to architectural discussions and make technical decisions within your area of ownership
  • Work with MySQL and Redis to improve system performance and reliability
  • Build and improve RESTful APIs for internal and external integrations
  • Continuously improve system performance, stability, and scalability
  • Collaborate with Product, Compliance, and Business teams to deliver new features and improve existing processes
  • Investigate and resolve production issues, identify bottlenecks, and reduce technical debt
  • Maintain high standards of code quality, testing, and engineering practices
  • Work with Git and CI/CD pipelines, including TeamCity and GitHub Actions
  • Contribute to improvements in architecture, development processes, and internal tooling

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
