Join a fast-growing, international technology environment where your backend expertise will directly support a global connectivity platform. You will build and scale high-performance APIs and mission-critical microservices used by millions of travelers worldwide. The role combines hands-on backend engineering with software architecture responsibilities, particularly around operations, automation, and scalability. You will help strengthen engineering quality through testing, code reviews, documentation, and modern development practices. Working closely with Product and QA teams, you will turn complex business requirements into resilient and maintainable solutions. You will also have the opportunity to tackle technical debt and performance challenges in a high-load environment. This is a fully remote role within a collaborative, international team that values continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and autonomy.
Accountabilities
- Build, maintain, and optimize mission-critical microservices using Python, Django, and Django REST Framework (DRF).
- Design and develop scalable APIs capable of supporting high-concurrency traffic and significant usage peaks.
- Contribute to software architecture, with a particular focus on operations, automation, resilience, and scalable engineering practices.
- Establish and maintain strong quality frameworks through comprehensive unit testing with Pytest and automated quality checks.
- Identify and resolve technical debt, performance bottlenecks, inefficient database queries, N+1 problems, and asynchronous processing issues.
- Design and implement microservices that integrate effectively with complex third-party systems and services.
- Improve application performance and reliability through profiling, optimization, and appropriate asynchronous programming techniques.
- Work closely with Product, QA, and other engineering stakeholders across international teams to translate business requirements into maintainable technical solutions.
- Champion software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle, including design patterns, technical documentation, code reviews, and maintainability.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and automation initiatives, helping create efficient and scalable development and operational processes.
- Act as a technical reference for backend engineering and contribute strategic thinking while remaining hands-on with implementation.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
