HomeServe Finance is hiring: Senior Software Engineer - Backend
London (Hybrid) | Up to £85,000 + 15% Bonus + £7,000 Car Allowance + 6% Matched Pension
At HomeServe Finance, we’re using technology and consumer finance to help homeowners improve the energy efficiency of their homes. As part of the wider HomeServe Group, we’re developing the products, platforms and lending technology that will help make homes across Europe more sustainable.
We're looking for a talented Senior Software Engineer - Backend to join our growing technology team and help build scalable, resilient systems that power the entire lending lifecycle, from credit applications and decisioning through to loan servicing and collections.
This is a great opportunity to join at a stage where your engineering decisions will directly shape our platforms, standards and customer experience.
What You'll Be Doing
- Designing, building and operating backend systems and APIs
- Owning solutions end-to-end, from design and development through to deployment and ongoing improvement
- Contributing to architecture and technical direction across a European platform
- Integrating with payment providers, credit bureaus, KYC/AML services and funding partners
- Helping shape engineering standards, best practice and AI-assisted development
- Mentoring colleagues and raising the bar across the engineering team

What We Offer
- Up to £85,000 salary
- 15% annual bonus
- £7,000 car allowance
- 6% matched pension
- Hybrid working from our London office (minimum of 2 days per week in the office)

What We're Looking For
- Strong Python and Django experience (or a comparable framework).
- Experience designing and building scalable backend services and REST APIs.
- Solid PostgreSQL expertise and AWS experience.
- Experience working within complex or regulated environments.
- A collaborative approach with strong technical problem-solving skills.
- Experience in using AI-assisted development tools such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor or similar.
