Role Overview

Join the unified technology platform of a leading global trading firm, building shared systems used across multiple trading strategies, asset classes and business areas. The platform consolidates critical data, services and workflows to improve decision-making, accelerate delivery and provide an accurate, real-time view of firm-wide trading activity. You will design and develop services supporting trade capture, order processing, positions and investment-book-of-record capabilities. The role combines greenfield engineering with the evolution of established systems, giving you ownership from domain modelling and architecture through to deployment, production support and continuous improvement...

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build reliable server-side systems for real-time trade, order and position processing across multiple asset classes
  • Develop shared services and data products that support trading teams, operations, risk, research and other technology functions
  • Translate high-level business requirements into well-modelled technical solutions by developing a strong understanding of the underlying trading workflows
  • Build event-driven and service-oriented architectures with careful consideration for scalability, consistency, availability and failure recovery
  • Own systems throughout their lifecycle, including architecture, implementation, automated testing, deployment, observability and production support
  • Improve and modernise existing platforms while delivering new capabilities without compromising the stability of business-critical services
  • Work across Java, Python and other appropriate languages, selecting technologies based on the engineering problem rather than a fixed stack
  • Apply domain-driven design and effective data modelling to complex trade-processing and investment-record domains
  • Collaborate closely with other engineers through design reviews, pair programming and shared ownership of technically challenging work
  • Promote strong engineering practices around rapid feedback, loosely coupled services, maintainability, transparent architecture and continuous delivery

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
