CrossTech

CrossTech develops AI-powered infrastructure inspection and safety products for railways, highways, and industrial assets. Our Intelligent Vision® platform turns video, imagery, and LiDAR into actionable insight, helping operators detect risk earlier, prioritize maintenance, and run safer, more efficient networks.

Our backend platform ingests large volumes of video and associated data, coordinates computer-vision processing, and delivers time-critical findings to infrastructure operators. As our products, datasets, and markets grow, the platform must become more modular, elastic, observable, and cost-efficient.

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Senior Backend Go Engineer to lead the evolution of our platform from a large legacy application and always-on compute estate into a set of independent, dependable services. This is a hands-on role for someone who has modernized production systems before and can own the outcome - not simply contribute isolated features.

You will work closely with engineering, computer vision, product, and delivery colleagues. You will make architectural decisions, write production Go, guide incremental migration, and ensure the platform meets demanding client commitments while scaling into new use cases and markets.

What you will do

  • Develop well-defined services safely and incrementally, without disrupting live customer delivery.
  • Design backend services in Go with clear domain boundaries, stable interfaces, and pragmatic clean architecture.
  • Build resilient, high-throughput pipelines that move and process very large volumes of video, imagery, geospatial data, and metadata across cloud boundaries.
  • Design event-driven workflows with explicit delivery guarantees, idempotency, retries, back-pressure, dead-letter handling, and safe replay.
  • Make the platform observable by default through meaningful metrics, distributed tracing, structured logs, dashboards, alerting, and service-level objectives.
  • Improve the reliability and performance of PostgreSQL-backed services through sound schema design, query analysis, indexing, migrations, and operational discipline.
  • Own services in production: deployment, monitoring, incident response, root-cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Raise engineering standards through design reviews, code reviews, automated testing, documentation, and mentoring.
  • Work with product and delivery teams to translate contractual and operational needs into realistic technical plans and measurable outcomes.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for

  • Substantial professional backend-engineering experience, including senior ownership of production services.
  • Strong, current Go expertise and a track record of designing clear, maintainable, and well-tested Go services.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed, event-driven systems and a practical understanding of at-least-once delivery, idempotent processing, ordering, consistency, and failure recovery.
  • Deep production experience on Google Cloud, including GKE or Kubernetes, Cloud SQL/PostgreSQL, object storage, and serverless or on-demand compute.
  • Experience designing Kubernetes autoscaling around real workload signals; scale-to-zero using KEDA or an equivalent approach is particularly relevant.
  • Strong PostgreSQL knowledge at production scale, including safe schema evolution, query optimization, and operational troubleshooting.
  • Practical SRE and observability experience: metrics, tracing, logs, alert design, SLOs, and incident learning.
  • Strong software-engineering practice: modular design, automated testing, CI/CD, code review, documentation, security, and reproducible delivery.
  • Commercial judgement about cloud cost, complexity, and delivery risk; you can explain why an architecture is worth operating.
  • Clear written and verbal communication, a collaborative working style, and the ability to lead technical decisions without relying on authority.

Especially useful

  • Python for geospatial, image, or video data processing.
  • Geospatial or GIS experience, including coordinate reference systems, GPS data, or satellite imagery.
  • Infrastructure as code and GitOps using Terraform and Argo CD or comparable tools.
  • Multi-cloud data integration, particularly reading source data from Microsoft Azure.
  • Kafka or another durable messaging platform, while keeping application design appropriately broker-independent.
  • Experience with batch orchestration, workflow engines, or large-object transfer patterns.
  • Experience in rail, highways, construction, or another regulated, safety-critical, or operationally constrained sector.

  • You leave systems and teammates more capable than you found them.

Company Benefits

  • Benefits: Competitive salary, private health insurance, enhanced maternity, and ongoing evaluation of additional benefits. Discretionary performance bonuses.
