Senior Backup Engineer – Enterprise Rubrik Migration
We are looking for an experienced Senior Backup Engineer / Backup Consultant to support a major enterprise backup transformation and migration programme.
This is a hands-on engineering role working within a large, complex infrastructure environment, supporting the migration of enterprise workloads onto Rubrik.
The Role
You will work as part of a specialist infrastructure team responsible for designing, planning and delivering the migration of backup services and workloads to a Rubrik platform.
The role will involve assessing existing backup configurations, designing migration approaches, configuring and managing Rubrik environments, migrating workloads and ensuring backup, recovery and resilience requirements are successfully met.
You will also support troubleshooting, testing, documentation and wider technical activities throughout the migration lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the design and delivery of a large-scale enterprise backup migration
- Assess existing backup environments, policies, retention requirements and protected workloads
- Configure, manage and optimise Rubrik environments
- Plan and execute workload migrations onto Rubrik
- Perform backup, restore and recovery testing
- Troubleshoot complex backup and infrastructure issues
- Work across Windows, Linux, virtualised and cloud-connected environments
- Support capacity, retention, replication and recovery planning
- Produce migration plans, technical documentation and operational runbooks
- Work closely with infrastructure, cloud, security and application teams
- Provide senior technical guidance throughout the migration programme

Experience Required
We are looking for someone with strong enterprise backup and recovery experience, ideally including:
- Hands-on Rubrik experience in large enterprise environments
- Strong knowledge of enterprise backup, recovery, retention and replication
- Experience delivering backup platform migrations or transformation programmes
- Experience with technologies such as Commvault, NetBackup, Veeam, Dell Networker or similar
- Strong Windows and Linux infrastructure knowledge
- VMware and virtualisation experience
- Experience working with cloud platforms and cloud-integrated backup solutions
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving capability
- Experience working within large, complex or regulated enterprise environments

Experience migrating from another enterprise backup platform to Rubrik would be particularly valuable.
The Profile
This role would suit a senior engineer or consultant who is comfortable taking ownership of technical migration activities rather than simply operating an existing backup platform.
You should be comfortable working independently, engaging with senior technical stakeholders and helping shape the migration approach as the programme develops.
Contract
- Initial 6 months contract with potential extension

- UK / hybrid or remote depending on project requirements
