RWE Supply & Trading GmbH

To start as soon as possible, full time, permanent

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in the next phase of RWE Supply & Trading’s physical metals business.

You’ll bring deep market expertise, a strong industry network and the commercial ambition to help build and scale our presence across physical base metals. You’ll operate with a high degree of autonomy while benefiting from the infrastructure, balance sheet and expertise of a global energy and commodities trading organisation. As the business grows, there is also the opportunity to broaden your impact beyond individual trading performance and take on increasing strategic and leadership responsibility.

About the role

Take a senior commercial role in growing RWE Supply & Trading’s physical base metals business, with meaningful ownership of performance and future direction.

  • Originate, structure and execute profitable opportunities across the base metals value chain.
  • Build and deepen strategic relationships with miners, smelters, producers, consumers, traders and logistics providers.
  • Lead opportunities across the full trade lifecycle, using your understanding of premiums, freight, financing, hedging and logistics to optimise returns.
  • Help shape the desk’s strategy, identifying new flows, markets and areas where RWE can build differentiated positions.
  • Contribute to the longer-term development of the platform, with scope to take on broader commercial and leadership responsibility as the business grows.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
