Senior Metals Trader | Physical Base Metals
An international commodity trading business is looking to appoint an experienced Physical Base Metals Trader to help drive the continued development of its metals business.
The successful individual will take ownership of developing profitable physical trading flows, with a particular focus on copper concentrates and copper cathodes. The mandate also provides scope to develop business across aluminium, zinc, lead, nickel and other complementary metals.
Key areas of focus will include:
- Originating physical trading opportunities and building sustainable supply and offtake channels across core origination markets.
- Developing relationships with miners, smelters, consumers, trading companies and other key counterparties globally.
- Managing the commercial performance of trades, including premiums, logistics/freight, financing costs, margins and associated price exposure.
- Ensuring physical positions and market risks are appropriately monitored and hedged.
- Working alongside regional teams to identify new sources of supply and develop new trading flows.
- Supporting the wider growth strategy of the metals desk, including expansion into additional products.
- Coordinating with risk, finance, legal and operations throughout the transaction lifecycle.

The successful candidate will bring:
- A minimum of 7+ years' physical base metals trading experience, with established expertise in metals concentrates (copper, lead, zinc or aluminium).
- A strong track record of building profitable trading flows and taking responsibility for P&L and risk management.
- A well-developed international network across miners, smelters, traders and other industry participants.
- Strong origination skills and the ability to convert relationships and market insight into profitable opportunities.
- An entrepreneurial and commercially driven approach, combined with the ability to operate successfully within a structured corporate environment.
- Strong collaborative skills and experience working across international teams.
