Purpose of the Role
Senior Solid-State Scientist – Oxford (High-Impact, Strategic Role)
Location: Oxford, UK
Role Type: Full-time, Permanent
Seniority: Senior / Expert Level
We are expanding our Oxford R&D hub with a high-impact hire: an exceptional Senior Solid-State Scientist who will play a defining role in shaping our next generation of solid-state battery technology. With extremely limited headcount, this is a rare opportunity to join at a senior level and directly influence scientific direction, experimental strategy, and technical breakthroughs.
If you thrive in an environment where your expertise truly matters, where you can drive innovation without layers of bureaucracy, and where your work directly accelerates the future of energy storage, we want to hear from you.
About The Role
As our Senior Solid-State Scientist, you will lead research into solid-state materials, interfaces, and cell architectures. You will design and execute experiments, guide junior scientists (where applicable), and collaborate closely with materials, electrochemistry, and engineering teams to translate scientific insights into manufacturable solutions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
