Help Shape the Future of Battery Technology
At Agratas, we're building the batteries that will power a more sustainable future. Backed by the Tata Group, we're creating world-class battery technology that will enable the next generation of electric mobility and energy storage.
As we continue to expand our R&D capability in Oxford, we're seeking an exceptional Senior Li-ion Battery Scientist to join our growing team. This is not a typical research role. With a highly focused team and a commitment to scientific excellence, you'll have the opportunity to directly influence our technology roadmap, shape research direction, and deliver breakthroughs that matter.
If you're passionate about advancing lithium-ion battery performance and thrive in an environment where expertise, innovation and impact are genuinely valued, we'd love to hear from you.
The Opportunity
As a Senior Li-ion Battery Scientist, you will join cutting-edge research into advanced battery materials, electrode technologies and cell architectures. Operating at the forefront of battery innovation, you'll combine hands-on experimental work with strategic scientific leadership, driving programmes that directly support the development of next-generation battery technologies.
Working closely with multidisciplinary teams across materials science, electrochemistry, cell engineering and manufacturing, you'll translate scientific discoveries into scalable solutions that enhance performance, safety and reliability.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
