At M Group Highways, we’re supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.
We don’t just build roads and bridges- we’re building a better future, creating lasting social value that gives back to the communities in which we work.
At M Group Highways, you’ll step into a high-performing, collaborative proposals environment where your expertise will directly influence the success of major infrastructure projects across the UK. As part of our established work-winning community, you’ll play a leading role in shaping compelling submissions for significant opportunities — particularly within National Highways and our expanding civils portfolio.
This is an opportunity for an experienced bid professional who thrives on strategic thinking, enjoys bringing people together to deliver winning solutions, and wants to make a tangible impact on industry-leading projects
Want to come and be a part of it?
Where you’ll be working
You’ll join the work-winning team within the UK’s number one highway maintenance contractor, supporting ambitious growth across Highways Maintenance, Civils, and Street Lighting. Our hybrid working model offers the flexibility of home working alongside valuable in-person collaboration at our Beaconsfield office (or suitable bid team location) during key bid stages — ensuring strong team connection while supporting work-life balance.
What will you be doing?
In this role, you’ll take ownership of complex, strategic bids. Guiding them from early planning through to submission while ensuring quality, consistency, and competitive edge throughout. This includes larger TMC and significant Project Sector bids. Working closely with Bid Directors and multidisciplinary experts across business development, estimating, commercial and operational teams, you’ll help define winning strategies and translate them into persuasive, high-impact proposals.
You’ll lead and inspire a team of writers, setting clear direction, coaching for excellence, and embedding strong storytelling across submissions. From developing detailed bid programmes and coordinating stakeholder inputs to preparing client presentations and negotiation strategies, you’ll ensure every element aligns to create a standout bid. Just as importantly, you’ll champion continuous improvement by sharing insights and driving learning across sectors and future opportunities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
