Base Location: Reading, Manchester or Glasgow

Salary: £51,600 - £77,400 + performance-related bonus + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

Working Pattern: Permanent | Full Time | Flexible First options available

The role

Reporting to the Head of Business Development and Work Winning and operating within the Business Development function, the Senior Bid Manager will be accountable for all aspects of bid management on their assigned bids from initial capture management and market testing stages until contract signature. Working closely with other members of the BD team, they will develop work winning strategies, create virtual teams and demonstrate expert level communication skills in order to influence both internal and external stakeholders, typically at C-Suite level.

The Senior Bid Manager will lead the bid activity and liaise with internal engineering, preconstruction, commercial, finance and legal functions to develop and help close projects achieving SSE’s investment requirements. They will build relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at senior levels for each bid that they lead.

You will

  • Build Strategic Relationships with internal and external stakeholders at senior levels to facilitate execution of bids and maintain these relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Drive strategy and proposition development in support of the specific opportunities.
  • Support business case development for new or improved propositions.
  • Embed Social Value propositions into bid proposals.
  • Work closely with BD and other functions, to ensure that the proposition is integrated within a wider offering to the market.
  • Support Business Development in identifying growth opportunities. This includes collaborating with business development teams to identity and pursue new market opportunities.

You have

  • The ability to combine commercial analysis with early-stage concepts to provide effective bid qualification.
  • Experience of devising win strategies addressing client needs based upon the principles of large-scale structured procurement.
  • Experience of building large virtual teams quickly and leading them in a pressurised environment with the ability to respond constructively to conflicting priorities.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills to build relationships with clients, understand their needs, and manage expectations throughout the bid process.
  • You are a team player, able to work with colleagues at all levels. A high energy individual, who is self-motivated and inspiring for others.
