Senior Bid Writer
We are seeking a Senior Bid Writer to lead the development of complex technical and strategic bid responses, while supporting wider bid delivery, assurance, and solution development. The role will provide consulting support to clients, working with them to interpret requirements, shape differentiated content, and improve the quality of bid submissions.
The role offers exposure to complex, high-value opportunities and supports accelerated professional development within a fast-paced consultancy environment, securing major projects across:
- Highways, rail and high-speed rail markets
- Construction and Facilities Management
- Emerging sectors including renewables, energy, defence, and nuclear.
Location: EiB Bid Hubs are in central Birmingham, Edinburgh, and Dublin. We offer a flexible working model aligned to our clients’ needs, combining office and home working with on-site support at client locations across the UK and Europe.
Key Responsibilities
Bid Delivery and Assurance
- Own complex technical and strategic responses from storyboard through drafting, review, and finalisation
- Interpret procurement documents, evaluation criteria, and client requirements, adapting the response approach to the opportunity
- Lead or support review briefings and debriefs, resolve conflicting feedback, and challenge drafts to improve quality
Strategic Influence
- Translate agreed strategy into response-level outputs, themes, and content requirements
- Support and facilitate win strategy workshops
- Use market, procurement, and cross-sector insight to advise clients on their submissions and wider bidding approach.
Solution Development and Constructive Challenge
- Interrogate requirements and client inputs to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and areas requiring further development
- Help clients develop tailored solutions, commitments, and delivery models from the agreed strategy
- Apply constructive challenge so client solutions are coherent, deliverable, and aligned with evaluation criteria
- Lead solution workshops and guide implementation of agreed win themes across relevant responses.

Business Development
- Identify and progress opportunities to enhance or expand support for existing clients
- Contribute to client meetings, account discussions, opportunity tracking, and pipeline development
- Build trusted client relationships and provide resilience to Key Account Management.
Leadership, Coaching, and Capability Development
- Maintain mentoring relationships and support colleagues across projects
- Provide practical upskilling to client teams during live projects
- Promote consistent use of EiB methods across internal and client teams.
About You
Ideally, you will be:
- Degree educated and/or hold a professional qualification in a relevant discipline
- Experienced in developing complex technical or strategic bid responses in a professional services/consultancy; or within a Tier 1/2 major construction, contracting, or maintenance environment
- A strong communicator, with the ability to write succinctly and facilitate collaborative workshops with a range of contributors
- Able to storyboard, draft, review, and improve responses with limited supervision
- Confident in challenging client and colleague inputs constructively
- Able to use AI appropriately and effectively in proportion to the role
- Experienced in coaching, mentoring, or sharing knowledge with colleagues or client teams
- Commercially aware and confident in building strong client relationships.

- With a salary of up to £65,000 based on values, skills, and experience
