BAM UK & Ireland are recruiting a Senior Bid Writer to join our frameworks team. Working as part of Construction’s Work Winning team, the Senior Bid Writer is responsible for producing high-quality, high scoring bid proposals that secure new business opportunities.

Making Possible

  • Lead the end-to-end bid writing process, ensuring the production of high scoring, persuasive, and compliant proposals.
  • Develop and write high-quality content tailored to client requirements, bid specifications, and evaluation criteria.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and insights for bid development.
  • Contribute to the development—and where appropriate assist with leading bid strategies. Identify hot buttons and key win themes and differentiators to enhance the competitiveness of submissions.
  • Review and refine content for clarity, consistency and brand alignment, and ensure all bid documents are accurate, compliant and of the highest quality.

  • Manage the writing of proposals for multiple bid projects simultaneously, meeting strict deadlines.
  • Support in the finalisation of written responses ensuring all components are cohesive, formatted and are aligned with the bid strategy.
  • Support and collaborate with team members to create visually appealing and informative graphics that enhance bid documents.
  • Conduct research to strengthen bid responses and ensure compliance with industry standards and best practices, inform bid strategies and improve success rates.
  • Continuously improve bid writing processes, templates, and knowledge management resources.
  • Maintain and update bid libraries, templates, and other resources to streamline the bid process and ensure consistency.
  • Mentor and support to team members to enhance overall bid quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure all bid submissions adhere to company policies and governance processes.

What do you bring to the role?

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Bid Writer, Senior Bid Writer, or in a similar role within a bidding/tendering environment.
  • Strong understanding of bid processes, frameworks, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into clear and persuasive content.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and bid management tools.
  • Knowledge of construction industry standards and practices.
  • Knowledge of procurement and public/private sector tendering processes (desirable).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Business, Marketing or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • APMP (Association of Proposal Management Professionals) certification is advantageous.
  • Bid-writing training, such as Shipley or Winning Bids Masterclass (desirable).
