Senior Bid Writer – Planned Maintenance
Location: Midlands or North West
Working Pattern: Hybrid
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
The Role
Hankinson Whittle is looking for an experienced Senior Bid Writer to support the continued growth of our Planned Maintenance businesses.
You will lead the development of high-quality tender submissions across planned and cyclical maintenance, refurbishment, and passive fire protection, working closely with our Business Development, Commercial, Operational, and Technical teams.
The role will suit someone who can turn complex technical information into clear, persuasive, and evidence-led responses, while using digital and AI tools intelligently to improve efficiency and quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the writing of SQs, PQQs, ITTs, and framework submissions.
- Analyse tender requirements and scoring criteria to develop clear win themes and high-scoring responses.
- Produce compelling content across areas including mobilisation, service delivery, resident engagement, social value, sustainability, quality, health & safety, and contract management.
- Work with operational and technical teams to turn their knowledge into strong bid content.
- Develop accurate responses across planned maintenance, refurbishment, and passive fire protection.
- Coordinate contributors and manage submissions against deadlines.
- Strengthen the use of case studies, evidence, and measurable outcomes within bids.
- Support the development of a high-quality bid library.
- Use AI and digital tools appropriately to support research, content development, and quality reviews.
- Review feedback and scoring to continuously improve future submissions.

About You
You will be an experienced Bid Writer with a background in construction, planned maintenance, social housing, property services, fire protection, or a related sector.

You will have:
- Excellent writing and communication skills.
- Strong experience of quality-led tender submissions.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, operational teams, and technical specialists.
- Good commercial awareness and attention to detail.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A proactive approach to using digital and AI tools responsibly.
Experience of public-sector procurement and quality-based tendering would be highly advantageous.
