Senior BIM & Digital Transformation Specialist / BIM Domain Lead

Location: Depixen London or Istanbul Office
Working model: Full-time, on-site

About the Role

Depixen is looking for an experienced architect who can translate deep BIM expertise into next-generation digitalisation, structured data and AI-enabled product development processes. This is not a conventional BIM modelling or coordination role. You will transform architectural and BIM domain knowledge into clear requirements, data structures, validation rules and digital workflows that can be implemented by software, data and ontology engineering teams.

The role sits at the intersection of:

  • Architecture
  • BIM
  • Data
  • Information Management
  • Digital Transformation

Key Responsibilities

  • Translate BIM domain expertise into next-generation digital products and software development processes.
  • Define how architectural elements, building products and systems should be represented within BIM environments.
  • Establish appropriate structures for geometry, technical properties, materials, classifications, units, relationships and identifiers.
  • Convert BIM requirements into data specifications, business rules, acceptance criteria and test scenarios.
  • Provide BIM domain mentorship to Depixen’s RDF, ontology, software and data engineering teams.
  • Guide technical teams on BIM terminology, object relationships, project stages, information requirements and industry practices.
  • Define connections between BIM information and structured building-product data.
  • Assess interoperability requirements across IFC, openBIM and other relevant systems.
  • Develop approaches for integrating BIM object libraries, manufacturer content and technical product information into digital environments.
  • Contribute to the definition of data validation, classification, versioning, change-tracking and provenance rules.
  • Produce example datasets, reference objects, user scenarios and test cases.
  • Establish a shared BIM language between architects, manufacturers, software engineers, data specialists and research teams.
  • Evaluate whether developed systems accurately reflect real-world architectural and BIM workflows.
  • Monitor relevant BIM standards, technologies and industry developments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We Are Looking For

  • A bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
  • Strong professional experience in BIM, digital design, information management or computational design.
  • The ability to understand BIM as a structured information system, not merely as a modelling tool.
  • Advanced practical experience with Revit, Archicad or an equivalent BIM authoring platform.
  • Strong knowledge of BIM objects, families, object libraries, parameters and information structures.
  • Experience with IFC, openBIM, ISO 19650, COBie, classification systems or Common Data Environments.
  • The ability to communicate complex BIM concepts to software and data teams in a clear, implementable form.
  • Experience defining requirements, data fields, relationships, rules, validation criteria and test scenarios.
  • Demonstrable experience with structured data, metadata, classification or interoperability.
  • Strong analytical thinking and the ability to structure complex domain knowledge.
  • The communication skills required to work closely and continuously with technical teams.
  • Advanced written and spoken English.
  • The ability to work full-time and on-site at our London or Istanbul office.

Strong Advantages

  • Experience in BIM automation or BIM-enabled digital product development.
  • Experience with building-product libraries or manufacturer BIM content.
  • Experience defining BIM data standards or information requirements.
  • Education or professional experience in data modelling, information architecture, taxonomy or ontology.
  • Familiarity with RDF, OWL, SHACL, SPARQL, semantic web technologies or knowledge graphs.
  • Experience with Dynamo, Grasshopper, Python, C#, Revit API or IFC development.
  • Computational or parametric design experience.
  • Experience with data governance, validation, versioning or provenance.
  • Previous responsibility for mentoring, training or BIM domain leadership.
  • Experience defining and validating requirements with software and data engineering teams.

This Role May Not Be Suitable for You If

  • Your professional experience is predominantly in construction-site delivery or site management.
  • Your BIM experience is limited to modelling, technical drafting or clash detection.
  • You have little interest in structured data, information management, classification or digital-system development.
  • You do not have experience translating BIM knowledge into clear rules and requirements for software or data teams.
  • You are unable to work on-site at either our London or Istanbul office.

Design-office experience is not, by itself, a reason for exclusion. However, candidates must be able to demonstrate how they have applied their BIM knowledge to data, information management, automation or digital product development.

Selection Process

Shortlisted candidates may be asked to complete a practical assessment covering:

  • Defining the BIM information structure of a building product
  • Modelling BIM properties and classifications
  • Distinguishing between mandatory and optional data fields
  • Defining relationships between objects
  • Establishing data-validation rules
  • Explaining an approach to versioning and provenance
  • Translating BIM information into a structured data model

How to Apply

Please apply with your CV and, where available, examples of your work involving:

  • BIM standards or information requirements
  • BIM objects or product libraries
  • Data models or classification systems
  • BIM automation
  • Digital product development
  • Technical documentation or validation rules
  • BIM projects delivered in collaboration with software or data engineering teams
