Senior Computational Scientist

Cambridge / Hybrid

SRG are recruiting for a Senior Computational Scientist / Bioinformatician to join a clinical cancer genomics company who are developing innovative diagnostic tools. Based in Cambridge, they are seeking an experienced Computational Scientist to develop bioinformatic algorithms and pipelines and prototype data analysis solutions for the early R&D phase. This will initially be a contract position of 9-12 months with the potential to become a permanent position.

  • Contribute to the development of novel methodologies and algorithms.
  • Perform computational analysis from new and custom assay prototypes (e.g., NGS-based assays).
  • Provide innovative in-silico solutions to investigate or interpret existing and novel data, using internal or external data sources.
  • Provide the first implementation of Bioinformatics pipelines to aid initial product investigation.

Requirements

  • A PhD, MSc, or similar qualification in computational science / Bioinformatics or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Significant, proven experience in Bioinformatics.
  • Proficiency with scientific programming (e.g., R or Python).
  • Experience in supervising project execution for the creation of products/algorithms as a computational technical lead.
  • Proven track record in creating algorithms, pipelines, or custom analytical solutions.
  • Hands-on experience with analysis and interpretation of large-scale clinical, biological/omics, or drug data sets, with a preference for NGS/genomic/transcriptomics data.
