Are You Ready to Shape the Future of Smart Buildings?

Building Management Systems are at the heart of modern, intelligent buildings, connecting critical infrastructure, optimising performance, improving sustainability, and creating safer, smarter environments. As demand for increasingly sophisticated and integrated building technology continues to grow, we're looking for an experienced BMS specialist who is ready to take the next step in their career and become a key technical leader within our business.

At Black & White Engineering, you'll have the opportunity to lead the design and delivery of innovative BMS solutions across some of the most complex and high-profile engineering projects in the industry. This is more than a design role. It's an opportunity to influence project strategy, drive technical excellence, champion innovation, and work alongside some of the most respected engineers and consultants in the sector.

You'll be trusted to take ownership, challenge convention, and help shape future-ready solutions that support our clients' operational, sustainability, and business objectives. Whether you're presenting solutions to clients, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, mentoring junior engineers, or introducing new approaches to smart building integration, your expertise will have a genuine impact.

As part of one of the industry's fastest-growing engineering consultancies, you'll also have the chance to accelerate your own development, expand your professional network, and play a visible role in projects that are helping define the future of the built environment.

This role can be based from any of our UK offices, giving you the flexibility to work from a location that suits you while collaborating with colleagues and clients across our national and global business.

What's in It for You

  • Take Ownership of Major Projects - Be the go-to technical authority for BMS design across large-scale and mission-critical projects. You'll have the autonomy to define design strategies, make key engineering decisions, and deliver robust, future-ready solutions that set new standards for excellence.
  • Collaborate with Industry Experts - Work alongside leading Mechanical, Electrical, and Building Services specialists while partnering directly with clients and project stakeholders. You'll drive seamless integration across Access Control, Security, Fire, and IT systems, expanding both your expertise and influence.
  • Drive Innovation and Sustainable Design - Help shape the next generation of smart buildings by championing innovation in controls, system integration, low-carbon technologies, energy efficiency, and emerging industry best practices. Your ideas won't just be heard, they'll help define how we deliver projects.
  • Build Your Professional Profile - Lead workshops, present design solutions to clients, contribute to technical reviews, and influence project outcomes at every stage. You'll enjoy meaningful exposure to senior stakeholders and the opportunity to establish yourself as a recognised expert within the industry.
  • Lead, Mentor and Inspire - Share your knowledge and help develop the next generation of engineers. You'll play a key role in fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture while continuing to grow your own leadership capabilities.
  • Gain End-to-End Project Insight - From concept design through to commissioning, witnessing, inspections, contractor reviews, and O&M documentation, you'll gain exposure across the entire project lifecycle, further strengthening your technical and commercial expertise.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
