Job Overview
Do you want to take up an exciting opportunity to join our team booking operations for patients?!
We are looking for a new Senior Booking Co-ordinator to join our well established team.
If you have a calm and empathetic nature, enjoy talking to patients and can work on your own initiative this could be the job for you. You will need to be able to use your negotiating skills to with clinicians and patients to ensure that patients receive their treatment within our target times.
This post is based onsite and is a key role within the Trust.
There is always something different to learn and it is a fast paced role needing attention to detail and a sense of humour!
Full support and training is provided.
This is a full time post @ 37.5 hours – our hours are 9-5.
Main duties of the job
To provide a full and comprehensive service to the organisation to ensure all elective patients are admitted efficiently for surgery within national guidelines and in accordance with the Trust’s Patient Access Policy. This will require the post holder to effectively make comprehensive decisions with regards to waiting list management and ensure that these decisions are effectively communicated to all relevant parties: Consultant Staff, Managers, Theatres and Nursing Staff, maximising the use of Trust resources.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of working in a customer/patient focused environment
- Understanding of the importance of maintaining confidentiality
- Ability to use computer software to develop operating lists
- Experience dealing with people (customers, patients) over the telephone or in person
- Ability/experience of working under pressure
- Ability to problem solve/use initiative
Desirable criteria
- Experience of dealing with patients appointments
Specific Skills
Essential criteria
- Polite and professional telephone manner and ability to deal with angry, difficult or distressed callers
- Effective decision making skills to process a range of information (some of it conflicting) and decide on the most appropriate course of action
- Excellent organizational skills
- Prioritises own workload to meet deadlines
- Ability to work as part of a team

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- Educated to GCSE/O level or equivalent work experience

Applicant requirements
The postholder will have access to vulnerable people in the course of their normal duties and as such this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.
