Company Accountant
Leeds | £35,000–£40,000 + bonus
An established, family-owned business in Leeds is looking for a hands-on Company Accountant to take ownership of its day-to-day finance activity.
The business provides design, installation, and ongoing maintenance services within a specialist workplace environment. This is a practical SME finance role for someone who enjoys working in the detail and keeping the numbers accurate and up to date.
The Role
You will be responsible for:
- Purchase and sales ledger
- Bank and balance sheet reconciliations
- Supplier payments and credit control
- VAT returns
- Journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Payroll support
- Month-end preparation
- Supporting management accounts
- Cash-flow reporting
- Supporting year-end requirements
- Improving finance processes and controls

You will work closely with the Managing Director and will be trusted to keep the day-to-day finance function running accurately and efficiently.
This is a genuinely hands-on role, so you need to be comfortable doing the bookkeeping and transactional work yourself rather than sitting above the detail.
About You
You may currently be working as a Company Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper, Accounts Senior, Assistant Accountant, or Accounts Manager. You will ideally have:
- Strong bookkeeping and accounting experience
- Good knowledge of VAT and reconciliations
- Experience of month-end processes
- Experience with journals, accruals, and prepayments
- Strong attention to detail
- A practical, hands-on approach

Experience within an SME or owner-managed business would be particularly useful. You may be AAT qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience.
