Role Description

The Senior Boyswear Designer is a full-time, on-site role based in Greater Manchester. This position is responsible for designing and developing boyswear jersey collections from concept through to final product, including creating seasonal ranges, developing print and graphic concepts, and refining fit and construction details. The role involves researching trends, fabrics, colors, and silhouettes, preparing detailed technical packs, collaborating with production and merchandising teams, and ensuring designs meet both commercial and brand-specific requirements. The designer will attend range reviews, contribute to line planning, and work closely with customers to interpret briefs, present concepts, and adjust designs based on feedback. Day-to-day tasks include managing the design calendar, coordinating with sample rooms, and maintaining a consistent standard of creativity and quality across all boyswear designs.

  • Strong boyswear design experience, particularly in jerseywear, including concept development, range building, and garment construction.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop) and ability to create clear technical drawings and specifications.
  • Knowledge of fabric types, trims, print techniques, and manufacturing processes relevant to jerseywear and childrenswear.
  • Demonstrated ability to research trends, colors, and consumer insights and translate them into commercially viable collections.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with customers, production, merchandising, and other internal teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • Experience mentoring or guiding junior designers and contributing to a supportive, inclusive team environment.
  • Relevant design qualification (e.g., degree or diploma in Fashion Design or related field) and prior experience in a similar senior design role.
  • Commitment to sustainable and ethical design practices, and an understanding of responsible sourcing and production considerations.
