The Vacancy
Are you an experienced BPS Operator looking for your next challenge? Do you want to work with the market leader in banknote production?
We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior BPS Operator to join our team at our Loughton, Essex site. Reporting to the Finishing Process Lead you will be responsible for ensuring machine output is maximised and quality standards are maintained across the process and individual machines whilst adhering to health and safety regulations and team leads the operators in a bay.
Key Responsibilities
- Maximise machine efficiency to produce consistently high output and quality.
- Problem solving on the machine, identifying technical problems and providing solutions.
- Control and monitor associated paperwork and computer records to provide accurate documentation.
- Ensure machine is run in a safe & proper manner and that waste levels are minimised.
- Continuously monitoring the quality of the product and making the necessary process adjustments to ensure quality is maintained and waste is kept to a minimum
- Meet production targets set by management.
- Escalate any machine malfunctions in line with escalation procedures.
- Ensure a full and efficient shift changeover occurs and the correct information is communicated concerning the handing over of the machine and quality of work.
- Actively support continuous improvement activities within the whole of DLR in order to maintain the company’s efficiency and competitively
- Understand the interface with OBIS to ensure quality standards are achieved with minimum spoilage

Working hours
24/5 Shift Pattern - consists of 3 crews of 12-hour shifts of either: 6.00 am to 6.00 pm; and 6.00 pm to 6.00 am, Monday to Friday rota. Attendance is 40 hours per week on average, including a 30-minute unpaid break plus a 15-minute unpaid break to be taken during the shift

Basic Salary
£48,140 per annum. Upon successful completion of a 6-month probation period, this will rise to £48,995 per annum.
Skills, Qualifications & Experience
- Exposure to a manufacturing environment (desirable)
- Ability to demonstrate clear communication & interpersonal skills.
- Craft Apprenticeship or NVQ level 2 or equivalent (Desirable).
- Educated to GCSE level Maths and English (Essential)
- Experience of finishing processes in particular BPS machine (Essential)
- Attention to detail
- Computer literate
- Able to manipulate OBIS model (Desirable)
