Job Purpose

As a Senior Engineer, you will be responsible for working independently and interfacing with clients on the technical and financial management of projects.

You will be required to lead design and construction projects, managing technical teams and ensuring successful delivery.

This role involves overseeing the development of detailed designs and managing project timelines and budgets.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, planning, and execution of engineering projects.
  • Development of conceptual designs, production of engineering designs, drawings, and reports per project requirements, and ensuring technical compliance.
  • Oversee and review engineering calculations, reports, and specifications.
  • Manage aspects of project delivery and technical reviews, ensuring safety, quality, and compliance.
  • Manage project budgets and prepare tenders/fee proposals, timelines, and client relationships.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide mentorship, guidance, and supervision to other engineers and foster technical development within the team.
  • Participate in business development by supporting proposal writing and technical submissions.
  • Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and clients to ensure successful execution.

Person Specification

Education

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil engineering or related discipline from an ICE-accredited course.
  • Incorporated or Chartered Engineer with ICE or related professional body.

Skills

  • Advanced technical expertise in civil engineering.
  • Strong leadership, project management, and client management skills.
  • Familiarity with contract administration and procurement processes.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.

Experience

  • Typically, 5-8 years of experience in a relevant discipline.

Additional Responsibilities

  • A full clean driving license would be an advantage.
  • Sentinel Track Safety – PTS holder.
  • Familiar with Autodesk (AutoCAD, Civil 3D) and Bentley (MicroStation) software.
  • Due to the nature of this role, site work, overnight, or weekend work may be required.

Our Workload is 70% design work in the rail industry, with the balance in transportation, energy, heavy civil engineering, and structural sectors. Our company aims to provide practical solutions to save money for our clients.
