Senior Building Control Officer

About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and customer-focused Senior Building Control Officer to join our dynamic Building Control team.

In this role, you will support the delivery of a high-quality Building Control service by assisting with site inspections, plan checking, and the supervision of building works to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.

Working closely with customers, developers, and construction professionals, you will help ensure building projects meet the required standards while providing expert advice and guidance throughout the process.

Our aim is to deliver an efficient, responsive, and professional service, maintaining WNC Building Control's reputation for excellence and customer satisfaction.

What will you be doing?

As a Senior Building Control Officer, you will manage a varied caseload of building regulation applications appropriate to your level of Class 2 registration, ensuring that proposed and completed building works comply with Building Regulations and associated legislation. Through plan assessments and site inspections, you will play a key role in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and regulatory compliance across a wide range of construction projects.

Working closely with the Team Leader and Principal Building Control Officer, you will provide regular updates on the progress of allocated work, maintain accurate records, and prepare detailed reports relating to regulated building activities. You will also offer professional advice and guidance on Building Regulations and related legislation to developers, architects, contractors, and members of the public.

The role includes investigating and resolving breaches of Building Regulations and relevant legislation, with the opportunity to support enforcement action and represent the Council in legal proceedings where required. In addition, you will assist with the assessment and reporting of dangerous, dilapidated, and ruinous structures, as well as supporting the Council's statutory responsibilities in relation to building demolitions through inspections and technical advice.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
