The Opportunity

We are currently looking for a Senior Building Performance Consultant to join our experienced team. This is a full-time, working from home role.

You will be working on new and existing developments throughout the UK to improve the energy, carbon and internal environmental performance of buildings. Projects may range from large non-domestic buildings to individual assets and dwellings. You will work directly with clients and other design team members to advise them on solutions for improving buildings and their systems.

Responsibilities

  • Dynamic thermal simulation modelling using the IES Virtual Environment software
  • Undertaking building performance assessments (i.e. net zero, thermal comfort, compliance)
  • Reviewing proposed and existing building documentation (i.e. drawings and specifications) to support the modelling process
  • Managing your own projects
  • Liaising with clients and external project teams
  • Site visits/surveys may be required
  • Supporting business development activities

Requirements

Essential Skills

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in the UK construction sector
  • A bachelor’s or masters degree in a relevant engineering, architectural or science subject
  • A minimum of 5 years of commercial experience with the IES Virtual Environment (IES VE)
  • Delivery of projects using the ApacheHVAC module within IES VE
  • Ability to perform the following:
    • Thermal comfort assessments
    • Operational energy and carbon assessments
    • Heating/cooling loads calculations
  • A strong understanding of UK Building Regulations and Planning systems
  • A strong understanding of HVAC systems used in the UK
  • A strong understanding of building physics and relevant scientific principles
  • Knowledge of how buildings are constructed from foundation to fit-out
  • Excellent communication skills including speaking English fluently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams; and AutoCAD

Desirable Skills

  • Low Carbon Energy Assessor (LCEA) or Non-domestic Energy Assessor (NDEA) accreditation
  • Part L / Section 6 compliance modelling
  • NABERS UK assessments
  • Daylight/sunlight assessments
  • Experience with Greater London Authority (GLA) energy, carbon, and overheating assessments
  • Producing energy and sustainability Planning Statements
  • Assessments and report writing for various BREEAM credits (e.g. Ene 01, Ene 04, Hea 04)
  • Experience performing whole life carbon assessments (WLCA)
