What You'll Be Doing
- Lead and oversee Southwark’s compliance as the Principal Accountable Person under the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and all relevant statutory requirements.
- Develop and maintain a robust, systematic approach to building safety management across the organisation’s high-rise residential buildings.
- Oversee the creation, implementation, and ongoing review of Building Safety Cases, ensuring they remain accurate, relevant, and compliant.
- Manage building safety inspection programmes, commissioning assessments and gathering critical information to support Building Safety Case requirements.
- Provide strategic leadership on building safety risks, ensuring effective identification, mitigation, and continuous improvement of safety practices.
- Act as the key point of contact for the Building Safety Regulator, ensuring positive and proactive engagement.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, promoting transparency, trust, and effective communication on building safety matters.
- Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to drive compliance and best practice in building safety management.
- Monitor changes in legislation, regulation, and industry standards, ensuring policies and procedures remain compliant and up to date.
- Support the organisation in delivering a culture of safety, accountability, and resident-focused service across its high-rise housing portfolio.

- Ensure the organisation fulfils its responsibilities as the Principal Accountable Person under the Building Safety Act 2022, Fire Safety Act 2021, and all related statutory requirements.
- Lead the strategic management of building safety across a portfolio of high-rise residential buildings.
- Develop, implement, and maintain a robust and systematic approach to building safety compliance and risk management.
- Oversee the preparation, submission, and ongoing review of Building Safety Cases, ensuring they remain accurate, current, and compliant.
- Manage inspection and assurance programmes to support the effective assessment and monitoring of building safety risks.
- Commission and review technical surveys, assessments, and specialist reports to inform Building Safety Cases and compliance activities.
- Ensure building safety information is effectively maintained, updated, and readily available to support regulatory requirements.
- Act as the primary liaison with the Building Safety Regulator, ensuring positive engagement and compliance with regulatory expectations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with residents, promoting transparency, engagement, and confidence in building safety arrangements.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders to drive continuous improvement in building safety.
- Provide expert advice and leadership on building safety legislation, policy, and best practice.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, ensuring organisational policies and procedures remain compliant and up to date.
