Building Services Manager
Salary: £88,000
Car Allowance: £4,800

I am working with a leading main contractor who is looking to appoint an experienced Building Services Manager to take responsibility for the successful delivery of MEP services across complex construction projects.
This is a senior position requiring someone who can take ownership of building services from the early stages of a project through design, procurement, installation, commissioning and final handover. You will work closely with the project team, consultants, subcontractors and supply chain to ensure MEP packages are delivered safely, commercially and to the required quality standards.
The Role
- Provide leadership, technical guidance and direction across Building Services activities, ensuring company procedures and management systems are followed.
- Support the delivery of the wider Building Services strategy with particular focus on safety, quality, sustainability and successful project delivery.
- Oversee the technical and commercial aspects of MEP delivery from preconstruction through to commissioning and handover.
- Manage the estimating, procurement and appointment of MEP packages in line with project requirements and commercial objectives.
- Review and manage MEP design development, identifying technical issues and ensuring solutions are agreed and implemented.
- Lead the planning, coordination and integration of MEP works into the overall construction programme.
- Coordinate with utility providers and relevant stakeholders to ensure required services and connections are delivered in accordance with programme requirements.
- Manage the production, review and approval of coordinated MEP drawings and builders works information.
- Implement robust processes covering design approvals, procurement, delivery, installation, inspection, testing and commissioning.
- Ensure compliance with quality management procedures, inspection and testing requirements and all relevant project standards.
- Maintain strong commercial awareness throughout the delivery of MEP packages, including monitoring variations, procurement and contractual requirements.
- Oversee Building Services quality on site and ensure installations comply with approved designs, specifications and statutory requirements.
- Develop and implement inspection, testing, commissioning and handover strategies.
- Ensure commissioning activities are properly planned, managed and completed in line with programme.
- Manage project documentation including commissioning records, certification, safety files and handover information.
- Support the successful delivery of the Soft Landings process.
- Mentor and develop members of the Building Services team, encouraging knowledge sharing and continued professional development.
- Promote strong health and safety standards throughout the Building Services supply chain.

The Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong experience managing large and complex MEP projects.
- A thorough understanding of the MEP supply chain and construction methodologies.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate multidisciplinary teams while maintaining safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.
- Strong technical knowledge across the full project lifecycle including design, procurement, installation, commissioning and handover.
- Good commercial and contractual knowledge relating to MEP packages.
- Excellent communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience dealing with consultants, subcontractors, supply chain partners and project teams.
- A strong understanding of health and safety, quality and sustainability requirements.
- A structured and organised approach with the ability to identify issues and implement practical solutions.

Qualifications
Ideally you will hold:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution such as CIBSE, CIOB or equivalent.
- Relevant health and safety management training such as IOSH or equivalent.
- Training or demonstrable experience in project planning and project management.
Desirable:
- Higher level qualifications within construction, engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered status or relevant professional accreditation.
- Experience or training within BIM, digital construction and emerging construction technologies.
