Senior Building Surveyor
Reading, Client-Side, National Industrial & Office Portfolio, Sal: £75,000.
Are you looking to move away from consultancy and join a property business where you can see the direct impact of your work?
This is an excellent opportunity for an MRICS Building Surveyor with 3+ years’ post-qualification experience to join a well-established property investment business with a £1 billion national portfolio of industrial and office assets.
Working within a small, highly experienced building surveying team, you will play a key role in protecting, enhancing and developing a high-value property portfolio. You will work closely with the asset management and investment teams, gaining genuine exposure to acquisitions, disposals, asset enhancement and long-term investment strategy.
This is more than a traditional building surveying position. The role provides the opportunity to develop your commercial understanding of property ownership and gain first-hand exposure to the decisions that drive investment performance.
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Asset Management Director and Technical Director, you will support the ongoing management and improvement of a diverse UK-wide portfolio.
You will work closely with asset managers, investment professionals and external consultants to maximise the performance and value of the portfolio.
Projects typically range from £250,000 to £1 million, covering refurbishment, asset enhancement and capital improvement works across industrial and commercial properties.
A significant element of the role will also involve technical due diligence, supporting acquisitions and disposals and providing technical insight into investment decisions.
Contentious matters, including dilapidations and disputes, are outsourced to specialist advisors. You will therefore manage these matters from a client-side perspective, allowing you to focus on the wider commercial objectives of the business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
