About the Role
We're looking for a Chartered Building Surveyor (MRICS/FRICS) to lead the delivery of inspection and surveying activities across London Underground's built environment portfolio.
This is an opportunity to combine technical excellence with innovation, using data, technology and modern surveying approaches to improve asset intelligence, drive productivity and unlock repeatable efficiencies. You will play a key role in ensuring our assets remain safe, compliant and resilient while helping the organisation achieve more with less through smarter ways of working.
Working across a diverse portfolio of stations and operational buildings, you'll convert asset condition data into actionable insight, influencing maintenance, investment and asset strategy decisions.
What You'll Be Doing
- Lead the planning and delivery of inspection and surveying programmes across the portfolio.
- Drive the adoption of innovative technologies, digital solutions and modern surveying techniques to improve efficiency, quality and decision-making.
- Identify opportunities for standardisation, synergies and repeatable process improvements that deliver sustainable cost and performance benefits.
- Provide expert technical leadership on building condition, defects and asset risks.
- Assure the quality of surveys, inspections and asset data, ensuring robust evidence-based decisions.
- Use asset intelligence to optimise maintenance, prioritise investment and improve whole-life asset performance.
- Champion continuous improvement, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration and accountability.
- Build strong relationships across engineering, operational and asset management teams to deliver shared outcomes.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
