Job Opportunity: Senior Building Surveyor
A well-established Midlands consultancy with a diverse, growing book of work (new build, refurbishment, extensions and elemental renewals) and an education client list that keeps getting longer. Chartered colleagues who share what they know. A team that develops people, not just bills them.
They're looking for a Senior Building Surveyor who wants real ownership: your own portfolio, your own client relationships, and a say in how the team grows.
The Work
- Lead design development and project delivery from feasibility through to completion
- Advise clients on options, budgets, procurement and delivery strategy
- Prepare scheme designs, specifications, costings and tender documentation
- Run contract administration and keep projects honest on cost and programme
- Survey buildings, diagnose defects and prepare repair proposals
- Support and develop the surveyors coming up behind you

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
