Senior Building Surveyor | Bristol | Heritage & Commercial Projects
Are you a Senior Building Surveyor looking for more interesting projects and greater control over the type of Building Surveying work you do?
I'm working with a growing independent property and construction consultancy in Bristol that is looking to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor to its team.
This is a particularly attractive opportunity for a Building Surveyor who enjoys variety. You'll have the flexibility to shape your workload around your own interests, including choosing your preferred balance between professional Building Surveying, Contract Administration and Project Management.
The Projects
One of the biggest attractions of this opportunity is the portfolio. The consultancy has a particularly strong track record across heritage and historic buildings, with work including:
- Theatres and cultural buildings
- Historic and listed properties
- Farms and rural estates
- Commercial property
- Education
- Healthcare
- Refurbishment and improvement projects
You'll also work with a range of private-sector clients, including private equity firms, providing exposure to commercially focused Building Surveying instructions alongside the heritage portfolio. Projects range from smaller specialist instructions through to multi-million-pound schemes.
The Role
As a Senior Building Surveyor, you can tailor the balance of your workload depending on whether your interests lean towards professional services or project work. Your responsibilities could include:

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
