About the Opportunity
Our client is a leading multidisciplinary construction consultancy with a strong presence across Greater London and an established reputation within the social housing sector. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor / Project Team Lead to join their expanding team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a driven surveyor who enjoys leading projects, mentoring colleagues, and delivering high-quality refurbishment and capital works programmes for housing associations, local authorities, and registered providers. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing projects from inception through to completion, whilst supporting the growth and development of the wider building surveying team.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
- Lead and manage a range of social housing refurbishment, maintenance, and capital improvement projects.
- Deliver projects through all RIBA stages, ensuring quality, budget, and programme objectives are achieved.
- Act as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent where required.
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation.
- Manage procurement processes and contractor appointments.
- Undertake project monitoring, cost control, and risk management.
- Chair progress meetings and liaise with contractors, consultants, and client teams.
- Carry out site inspections and monitor quality of works on site.
- Ensure compliance with current building regulations, health and safety legislation, and industry standards.

Professional Building Surveying Services
- Conduct building inspections and condition surveys.
- Prepare technical reports, feasibility studies, and defect analysis reports.
- Undertake planned maintenance assessments and life cycle planning.
- Provide advice on dilapidations, repairs, and maintenance strategies.
- Support clients with asset management and investment planning.
Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop junior surveyors and graduates.
- Support resource planning and project allocation across the team.
- Contribute to business development activities and client relationship management.
- Assist in maintaining high technical standards and best practice across the department.
About You
Essential
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- Significant experience within a construction consultancy environment.
- Strong project management and contract administration experience.
- Experience delivering refurbishment and capital works projects, ideally within social housing.
- Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and problem-solving ability.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable
- MRICS Chartered status (preferred but not essential).
- Experience managing and mentoring junior surveyors.
- Knowledge of housing association and local authority frameworks.
- Experience acting as Employer's Agent.
