Senior Building Surveyor
Location: Newcastle or Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: £50,000 - £65,000 + Bonus + Excellent Benefits
Contract: Permanent, Full-Time
The Opportunity
A leading multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join its growing North East team based in either Newcastle or Stockton-on-Tees.
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious surveyor looking to take the lead on a diverse portfolio of professional and project-led instruction across both public and private sector clients. You'll work alongside an established team of surveyors, project managers, engineers, architects, and cost consultants, delivering high-quality advice and project outcomes across a wide range of sectors.
The role offers a strong mix of professional building surveying and project work, as well as the opportunity to mentor junior team members and support the continued growth of the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the delivery of a wide range of Building Surveying services.
- Undertake condition surveys, defect diagnosis, and technical due diligence reports.
- Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation.
- Act as Contract Administrator and Employer's Agent on refurbishment and capital projects.
- Manage projects from inception through to completion.
- Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) surveys and asset management reports.
- Undertake landlord and tenant work, including dilapidations and schedules of condition.
- Provide technical advice to clients across a variety of property sectors.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships.
- Support business development activities and identify opportunities for additional services.
- Mentor and support Graduate and Assistant Building Surveyors.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions for clients.

About You
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or a related discipline.
- MRICS qualified.
- Previous consultancy experience within Building Surveying.
- Strong technical knowledge of both professional and project-led services.
- Experience managing refurbishment and capital projects.
- Sound understanding of JCT contracts and contract administration.
- Confident in a client-facing environment and capable of building long-term relationships.
- Commercially aware with an interest in business development.
- Strong report writing and communication skills.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
