About Connect2Dorset

Connect2Dorset is a managed service agency owned by Dorset Council, providing temporary, contract, and interim recruitment solutions to the Council. Built on the values of ethical, trustworthy, and caring, our profits are reinvested into our Local Authority shareholders, supporting local communities and public services.

The Opportunity

Connect2Dorset is seeking an experienced Building Surveyor to support Dorset Council's diverse property portfolio. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly motivated surveyor with strong technical expertise in property maintenance, compliance, and capital project delivery within a public sector environment.

You will play a key role in ensuring council-owned assets remain safe, compliant, and well maintained while delivering value for money through effective contract and project management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage planned and reactive repairs and maintenance programmes across a varied property portfolio.
  • Ensure statutory compliance, asset safety, and building maintenance standards are met.
  • Deliver capital repair and improvement projects valued at £100,000+, from procurement through to completion.
  • Prepare specifications, tender documentation, and oversee contractor performance.
  • Manage project budgets, procurement activities, and contractual obligations.
  • Monitor property performance, maintain accurate asset records, and utilise digital property management systems.
  • Build strong working relationships with internal departments, contractors, consultants, and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure works comply with relevant legislation, health & safety requirements, and Dorset Council policies.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
