Country/Functional Unit: UK/Finance

Reports To: UK Financial Controller

Role Purpose

To support the company in achieving its business objectives and targets by managing the accounting function across TSI Instruments, Casella Holdings Limited, and any other businesses that may be acquired via acquisition. Including production and reporting of Management and Statutory Accounts. Adhering to all regulatory and compliance demands and submissions including VAT, PAYE, import/export, and bills of discharge. Coordinating audit deliverables for Company and Group. Overall responsibility for the Payroll, AR, AP, and cash functions of the business. Provide financial business analysis. Manage KPI’s. Support the UK FC and finance team in the successful operation and improvement of all financial processes, procedures, and efficiencies by observing, suggesting, and implementing continuous improvement opportunities.

About The Role

We are looking for a detail-driven, self-motivated person to join the UK Finance team playing a pivotal role in supporting core finance operations. Working closely with the UK FC, the role will deliver accurate and timely management and financial reporting, cash-flow management, as well as managing external audits and regulatory compliance. This is an exciting opportunity for a fully qualified person to step-in to a more hands-on role, add value, and make a real difference.

Key Responsibilities

  • Overall responsibility for the month-end close routine, producing and analyzing the monthly accounts to trial balance, adhering to all policies, and producing P&L, Balance Sheet, reconciliations, TB, and bridge/KPI analysis for final review and approval by the UK FC
  • Ownership of the day-to-day processes including payroll, journals, accruals, pre-payments, fixed assets, bank account management, and cash-flow analysis, etc.
  • Manage the UK Finance team. Set objectives in line with overall Company goals. Review performance, complete performance reviews, provide training and mentoring as necessary – all with the aim of supporting the successful operation of the accounts department
  • Prepare and distribute business metrics and overhead reporting and challenge internal business managers on results and improvement methods
  • Payroll and Pensions – manage the submission and reporting process from start to finish, through associated third party/bureau’s and maintain control of regulatory requirements
  • Manage the external audit process supporting statutory and taxation submissions as well as assisting in the preparation of UK to US GAAP schedules
  • Financial Processes & Controls – Assist in reviewing, identifying, and implementing best practice and efficiency improvements. Ensure compliance with internal policies and maintain up-to-date disaster recovery process notes for all job functions
  • Prepare and submit VAT and P11d returns and other formal regulatory returns
  • Stock: Report and review stock levels and usages to assist in managing stock/SLOB levels
  • Cash-flow management: Maintain weekly bank reconciliations and work with the team to monitor and control the company’s receipts and payments
  • Review Sales & Purchase Ledger on a regular basis to ensure entries posted correctly and best performance is being achieved.
  • Provide cover to assistant roles as required
  • Decision Support: Provide any ad-hoc financial information and advice required to managers to support strategic, tactical, and operational decision-making
  • Ad-hoc duties as assigned
  • Deputise for the Financial Controller role as appropriate

Other Requirements

  • On-site working at UK sites is expected, and a degree of working from home flexibility can be accommodated once up-to-speed in the role
  • A large degree of flexibility and preparedness to manage the role, provide cover, and meet operational needs, in particular, support the FC as needed
  • A reasonable amount of additional hours may be expected during peaks of activity to ensure business objectives are met
  • Any other reasonable duties, as requested by your Manager, to meet business needs
  • Travel to alternative European and US offices may occasionally be required
