The role of the Senior Business Analyst sits within the SPT P&R department reporting to the Regulatory Operations Manager. They are primarily responsible for assessing and supporting the wider SPT business in delivery of regulatory requirements as part of T2 & T3 delivery.

This is achieved through the provision of regulatory and commercial guidance, governance, and analysis to support project and operations delivery. In particular, the terms of alignment with regulatory allowance and reporting requirements to ensure accurate reporting of cost and volume performance.

The Senior Data Analyst will be working in conjunction with SPT project teams and business units, as well as the wider SPEN business that supports the technology and governance of SPT financial and regulatory processes.

What you’ll be doing

This is a high-impact role at the heart of SPT’s regulatory reporting and commercial performance activities. You will lead and support the delivery of annual regulatory cost and output reporting submissions, ensuring accuracy, compliance and timely reporting, while working closely with teams across the business to provide key performance insights and regulatory guidance.

  • Working collaboratively with Network Planning & Regulation, Control Teams and wider business stakeholders, you will produce management information, cost and economic analysis, and support business planning activities.
  • You will also assist in preparing presentations and reports for senior leadership, helping to communicate regulatory performance, commercial outcomes and key business challenges.
  • The role offers the opportunity to drive continuous improvement by enhancing processes, ensuring compliance with Regulatory Instructions & Guidance (RIGs) and Data Assurance Guidance (DAG) requirements, and delivering training and awareness programmes across the business.
  • You will also support the production of commercial reporting and governance activities, playing a key role in strengthening SPT’s regulatory and commercial capability.

What you’ll bring

The successful candidate will have a relevant academic qualification (Accountancy/ Finance/ Economics) at degree level or equivalent. Consideration will also be given to high calibre candidates with relevant experience of financial reporting including SAP.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and time management skills.
  • Experienced in preparing reports and presentations for senior management.
  • Experienced in communicating objectives and delivering projects with multiple milestones.
  • Numerically articulate with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to devise solutions to complex problems & challenges, involving consultation with others in the business, resolve differences and present a common agreed perspective.
