Role Overview

The Senior Business Analyst is a senior analytical voice at the intersection of product thinking, commercial analysis, and delivery execution. This role sets the standard of excellence for analysis, personally leads work on the most complex and highest-risk initiatives, and manages and develops other BAs working alongside them. The right person brings a product and user-problems mindset, uses AI as a daily practice tool, and is as comfortable influencing a roadmap as they are writing a user flow.

We are a fast-paced, forward-thinking, and enjoyable place to work. Business Analysts here are at the heart of our most exciting initiatives to ensure alignment between business goals and technical implementations.

Your Team

The Sun comprises digital product teams supporting the development and enhancement of The Sun Website, The Sun Mobile App, and The Sun membership products. Evolving these products is critical to the continued success of the brand. We are an agile, cross-functional programme, working together to ensure the digital products can continue to meet the needs of the business and customers by improving the user experience, underlying platform, and operational tools for teams.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end discovery lifecycle on complex initiatives, owning the analysis from problem definition through to a build-ready solution.
  • Build strong relationships with key executive stakeholders, and align stakeholders and squads around objective data and evidence, leading workshops to drive rapid agreement on goals, priorities, and scope.
  • Proactively contribute to and adopt the standard of excellence for analysis, defining and embedding templates, methodologies, and metric accountability frameworks that ensure consistency and quality.
  • Directly manage and/or mentor other BAs, building individual capability in product thinking, AI fluency, post-launch validation, and commercial framing.
  • Work closely with the Lead Business Analyst to maintain a view of programme priorities and ensure analytical effort is directed to the highest-value initiatives, and not absorbed by low-value work.
  • Act as the connective tissue, ensuring logic and decisions across its initiatives are consistent and don't create downstream problems for other teams.
  • Apply commercial literacy to connect analysis to revenue impact, cost trade-offs, and business opportunity - framing recommendations in ways that actively steer roadmap and product decisions.
  • Leverage AI effectively in their daily work and continuously identify new opportunities to improve analytical speed and quality.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What We’re Looking For

You will join The Sun Customer Product team, acting as a strategic partner to Technology, Marketing, and other Customer teams. Operating at the heart of our most critical teams, you will drive initiatives across the entire subscriber lifecycle. Hence, we are looking for someone who has:

  • Experienced leading discovery analysis on complex, high-risk product initiatives, with a track record of translating ambiguous problems into clear, executable logic and requirements.
  • Proven ability to operate at senior stakeholder level - building strong, trusted relationships with executive stakeholders, framing analysis in commercial terms, and driving rapid decision-making on high-stakes trade-offs.
  • Experience managing and developing Business Analysts, with demonstrable success in shifting ways of working toward higher-value, more product-led analysis. Where required, actively support hiring for additional contract resource, from designing assessments through to evaluating and interviewing candidates.
  • Strong analytical literacy - able to connect analytical findings to revenue impact, cost to serve, and business opportunity, and communicate this fluently to non-analytical audiences.
  • Experience contributing to or improving practice standards, templates, or methodologies at team or programme level.
  • Ability to maintain a clear view of priorities and proactively allocate analytical effort to where it will have the greatest impact.
  • Awareness of competitive product landscapes, with the ability to incorporate competitor intelligence into strategic decisions and discovery planning.
