Business Analyst – Physical Oil | Greenfield ETRM Transformation | Up to £875/day inside IR35
I’m working with a leading global commodities trading firm looking for a Business Analyst with strong physical oil experience to join a major greenfield ETRM transformation programme.
This is an opportunity to help shape a new platform, influence position reporting design and improve front-to-back workflows across physical oil trading.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work with trading, operations, scheduling, middle office and technology teams to define business requirements.
- Help design and develop position reporting for physical oil trading activities.
- Define reporting requirements covering trades, inventory, movements, exposures and operational positions.
- Analyse physical oil workflows across trade capture, nominations, scheduling, logistics, storage and settlements.
- Translate business requirements into functional specifications for development teams.
- Investigate reporting discrepancies, data quality issues and reconciliation breaks.
- Support testing, implementation and delivery of new platform functionality.

Experience Required:
- Strong hands-on experience with physical oil trading, covering crude oil and/or refined products.
- Previous Business Analyst experience within commodities trading or trading technology.
- Experience with an E/CTRM platform is essential; experience with any ETRM or CTRM system is relevant.
- Understanding of physical oil positions, inventory movements, trade lifecycle and position reporting.
- Experience gathering requirements, documenting processes and working with technology teams to deliver solutions.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
